Officials of the Beijing Municipal Audit Bureau visited the Audit Commission

In the afternoon of 4 December 2024 (Wednesday), a five-member delegation of the Beijing Municipal Audit Bureau visited the Audit Commission (Audit) headquarters for a professional exchange.  The delegation was led by Jiang Na, Deputy Director-General of the Bureau.  Before the meeting, Prof. Nelson Lam, Director of Audit, welcomed the officials of the Bureau and introduced to them the Audit personnel taking part in the exchange.

In the briefing session, Acting Assistant Directors of Audit Yvonne Ho and Terry Mok, Principal Auditor May Chan, as well as Auditors Jessica Lo and Hayley Leung took turns to give an introduction on the background and responsibilities of Audit, and also on the work of regularity audit and value for money audit.  As the session concluded, the two parties exchanged views on, among others, quality control, data analysis and project organisation in auditing adopted in Beijing and Hong Kong.  The delegation leader found the discussion fruitful in further promoting the mutual acquaintance and understanding between the two audit offices, and in enabling enrichment of practical know-how.  She went on to thank Audit for its presentation and itinerary arrangements for her team.

Prof. Nelson Lam, Director of Audit, expressed gratitude to the National Audit Office for lining up the Bureau and Audit for the insightful occasion, which was made possible by the efforts of the staff of both offices, bringing together the counterparts of the two cities once again since the exchange in Beijing last year.  Prof. Lam highlighted the commonalities shared by the audit departments of Beijing and Hong Kong – the pursuit of “perfecting audit management”, the vision of building an “all-encompassing, authoritative and highly effective audit supervision system”, the actual practices in performing audit and the work of publicising audit findings in accordance with law.  Pleased to see that both sides had been inspired by and benefited from the exchange, the Director looked forward to the joint efforts of the two offices in contributing to the development of our nation’s audit affairs.
