Staff of Audit Commission participated in the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Environmental Audit Conference 2011"

At the invitation of the Audit Office of Guangdong Province, our Assistant Director, Albert Wong, led four staff members of the Audit Commission - Edmond Chan and Edmund Chow (Senior Auditors), and Hinnie Lok and Carol Wong (Examiners), to attend the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Environmental Audit Conference 2011" from 15 to 17 June 2011. The Conference was held in Dongguan. A total of seven delegations participated in the Conference including the Audit Office of Guangdong Province, the Audit Commission of the Government of the HKSAR, the Commission of Audit of the Macao SAR, the Bureau of Audit of Guangzhou Municipality, the Audit Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, the Audit Bureau of Dongguan Municipality, and the Audit Bureau of Zhongshan Municipality.

Our delegation submitted two papers for the Audit Conference - "Reduction and recovery of municipal solid waste" and "Government initiatives to improve indoor air quality".

The Conference provided a very good opportunity for our delegation to exchange views and ideas on the recent development of environmental audits in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. They also visited the Guangdong Dongguan Quality Supervision Testing Centre and the Dongguan Songshan Lake (North) Sewage Treatment Plant.
